The Rainbow Prophecies say that when the Earth has become sick and the fish and the animals are dying, there will come forth a tribe of people from all nations, creeds and colors of the world, and they will put their faith in deeds and not in words, to make the land green again, and to restore balance once again to our planet. These brothers and sisters shall come together to live again in Harmony with the Earth Mother, and speak of Love as being the Healer of the Children of the Earth, and they will learn to live again as Brothers and Sisters of the Earth . . .

Chloe with Earth Day Founder John McConnell, 2005

They will be called "WARRIORS OF THE RAINBOW," protectors of the environment.

It is up to each one of us, NOW, TODAY, to accept responsibility for our environment, our most precious earth. You may say, "What do I care, I have enough during my lifetime," but I am asking you to consider my generation and my children to come, and my children's children.

What would a day be without beauty, without the sound of birds singing or the smell of fresh grass or the sound of a summer rain shower or the shade of an old Oak Tree. These are the things that I want my children to experience, the legacy that I want to leave behind.

As Peace Paint Ambassador for the United Nations Art Miles Mural Project, I will continue to paint for peace and global harmony, including harmony of Mother Earth. In July, I traveled to the International Children's Conference on the Environment to learn what I could do to make a difference in my life and future generations. However, there are things we can do now that will make a difference today as we celebrate the Earth.

Did you know that as a nation our goal this year is to plant 285 million trees, one tree for every American in response to the devastating wildfires in Southern California. In the past 30 years, we have lost more than 600 million trees. Planting one tree assists in providing a delicate balance to our ecosystem. Trees remove air pollution, filter out chemicals and waste, and they are responsible for improving our health. Therefore ONE tree planted for every American would symbolize our efforts and belief in preserving our environment for the generations to come.

Okay, so maybe you can't plant a tree, then commit to a car-free day, have your water tested or conserve the water you do use, or begin recycling. Did you also know, that if we all simply inflated our tires on our cars to the manufacturer's recommendation, we would save enough oil each year to equal that which could be drilled in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. There are so many small things we can do everyday to make a difference in the years to come.

I ask you now to join me in making a commitment to Mother Earth and to our Future: to become a Warrior of the Rainbow, a protector of the environment, bringing the present in harmony and balance with all things.

I ask you to look for the hero within yourselves and to remember that “within every seed is the magic and power of ALL creation.” We all have the power and it grows when it is shared. That power is the power of LOVE.

BEGIN LOVING OUR EARTH TODAY!
